Pkf.85 Falke

Pkf.85 Falke with ‘Third-Eye’

This is the Hasegawa 1/20 Pkf.85 Falke from Kow Yokoyama’s  Maschinen Krieger series aka Ma.K. The model’s basic shape is an amalgam of a Nitto (Fujimi) 1/24 Toyota S800 and a 1/32 Revell P-38 Lightning.

It is also the model that taught me on chrome removal, salt & hairspray techniques and my first venture into Abteilung Oil paints. I also improvised on the lighting of this model using an off-the-shelf electronic kits with some minor modifications. This ‘discovery’ Project took me about 6 months to complete (as I only devote a few hours a week) and I will be spreading the definitive WIP into a few articles.

Another point of note is that I used electronics to replace a physical fan design which I wanted but was too expensive and difficult to realize it. Plus, this gives me the opportunity to showcase how ‘normal’ electronics can be a solution for model lighting. But more importantly, this project also shows how one can tap power from a USB Mobile power bank.

I cannot remember much of the details but this project took me about half a year. It all started on 24th July, 2016 when I was based in Kuching, Sarawak. I happened to discover a very modest LHS called Heng Kim trading and they had the Falke for sale. Heng Kim Trading aka HKT is quite well know in Kuching for its extensive range of modeling tools and model kit subjects.

The construction notes of this model is quite long and so, here are their chapters:
