In Malaysia, it is very hard to get the Star Trek stuff then I like despite seeing some bits here. To be honest, they are not as ‘popular’ as Star Wars and thus, most vendors would not bring them in because:
1. They do not sell, or
2. Not many people would buy them, or
3. The prices are not exactly ‘right’.
But to me, those that do not sell were usually the action figures and dolls. For me, I would like to see more Starships, Toy Props and maybe the occasional Master Replicas. OK, to be really, really honest, I would prefer TNG Tricorders and Phasers.
And so, knowing the bleak selection here, the only source would be beyond the borders of my Country. So far, eBay was and still is, the only choice for Playmates Tricorders. Etsy on the other hand does have them too but they are quite rare.
Then you have the problem with International shipping, which costs as much as the item itself. But once in a blue moon, I would come across one which is too good to be true. And that my friends, was… um, last night.
In summary, what I have bought, is a Playmates Tricorder which was a victim of battery leaks.
Everything looks very good and to me, is still in reasonably good condition. The stickers on the lower flap are intact with no signs to tampering. This means, the screws underneath are OK
The two screws are there as well. So, this is a great find.
