20230713 Razor Crest Main Board v04B part 1

I wanted to call it Version 5 but then, the text was v04B. This board has just a few minor modifications and function-wise, it is the same. Still, I went ahead with this version.

THE CHANGES

First of all, the board was manufactured in Black, which was the original colour. It came in default green because I forgot to indicate the PCBs to be finished in black during the ordering process. Secondly, I moved most of the circuitry slightly to the back so as not to clash with the bulky Spring terminal connectors (which I have moved too), which are hampering the wiring since it is too close to the second cockpit door. Unfortunately, if you have been reading from recent posts, these connectors are not reliable which was the reason I went back to screw terminals. Thirdly, I have also enlarged the LED holes from 2.0mm to 2.2mm so it could more or less help salvage the situation when one mistakenly drilled the 2mm holes slightly out of alignment. The fourth change would be the pair of rectangular holes at the sides for the wires to come through from the Cargo Bay walls. This way, the PCB would not be squashing the cabling and also, affect the drop length of the four ceiling LEDs. Lastly, the the missing text indicating what the board is for, and what connector does what, is now… not missing.

The board could be thinner since I have opted not to use those double row spring terminal connectors. I have replaced them with a single row of 2.54mm screw terminals instead. This way, I could have saved more then 10mm width-wise. As the original design follow the shape of the cargo bay ceiling, it is pointless to shrink it further.

OK, there is a boo-boo in the image. The text should read “Larger diameter 2.20mm” instead of “Larger diameter 1.10mm”
