Copied directly from the DK Star Wars Incredible cross-sections book… wait. Copied? Well, I certainly cannot say it was inspired. You can judge for ourself once you look at the two images below, minus the six hexagonal struts, that is. Maybe they have the Copyrights to this venture but anyway, I give you, Green Strawberry’s 1/72 TIE Fighter Cutaway.
Whose idea is this?
I have to admit that this is a very good idea for enhancing Bandai’s detailed TIE Fighter. Although the move is original but I still can’t help thinking about the time when they were claimed to have copied a certain Paragrafix’s Starfleet photo-etch. In the scale model industry, the manufacturer needs to create new subjects to keep going so they won’t end up going ‘dry;. This is where you see topics like World War II tanks produced with so much variation and once that is done, the next venture would be interiors and even paper tanks and so on. For a third-party Company however, their business model is slightly different, which is to compliment the base plastic model.
So, here we are, a resin and photo-etch detailed set, which is taken from a fictional design from a book based on a SciFi movie. I can imagine the hours of fun with this set and the possibilities of creating 1/72 dioramas, such as a 1/6 Stormtrooper building the Tie Fighter model where the parts arrives every week. However, before you go crazy with this, do remember that this is only for one half of the wing.
