“The PKD” (aka Steyr Pflager Katsumata Series-D Blaster, a name coined by Rick Ross) is a very easily recognisable Blaster. And just like Robocop’s Auto-9 both of them does not have an Official name. Throughout the decades, there were quite a lot of efforts to reproduce these props, from a simple toy to an almost exact replica. And depending on the market or perceived needs of the purchaser, these items might last for years before disappearing of the face of the Earth.
Truth to be told, I’ve held out as long as I could (since 2004) but now, it’s 2026 and I just had to get one. Decades ago, when I tested most of the toy guns, they had the same one or two feature. I guessed most of the manufacturers got their sound & lights solution from one or a few handful sourced. The sound effects starts with a generic machine gun firing, followed with a voice shouting, ‘Fire!’. If you’re lucky, there would be a version that does not have the voice. So, its kind of off-putting when you pulled the trigger of a semi-automatic, the machine gun sound comes into play. As for the lights, its always a single LED, accompanied by an optional motor.
