Just read a very disheartening news from Modelmodz Ltd (aka Chloe Powell) who are one of the Companies which supplies the electronics for the Eaglemoss’s, now, now Fanhome’s, “Build the Back to the Future DeLorean” partswork. This particular Partswork spawned a handful of cottage industries that overcomes the lacklustre quality of the electronics supplied in each kit.
From her Facebook post:
“It sadens me to say this but I regret to inform you that Modelmodz Ltd has now entered liquidation.
Over recent years, the business has faced a series of significant challenges. These began during the COVID period and were followed by multiple relocations, including further moves that disrupted operations.
During this time, we also experienced issues with internal systems which resulted in lost or delayed orders. This alone caused a significant disruption to the business.
On a personal level, I have also faced extremely difficult circumstances, including the loss of my father and the responsibility of now caring for my mother full-time. Balancing these challenges while continuing to run the business had a substantial impact on day-to-day operations.
Despite continued efforts to fulfil orders and recover the position, the combined effect of these challenges led to an increasing backlog which ultimately became unmanageable.
This has not been an easy decision, and I are truly sorry for the disappointment and frustration this will cause.
I understand that many of you have been waiting patiently for your orders, and I sincerely apologise for not being able to deliver as intended.
The company is now under the control of appointed insolvency practitioners, who have taken over management of its affairs. At this stage, all matters relating to the company are being handled by them, and I am awaiting further guidance on next steps.
As such, I am not in a position to take any further action directly.
I would like to thank all of my customers and the whole community for their continued support over the years — it has genuinely meant a great deal.
I am deeply sorry for the situation and any inconvenience caused.“
So, what’s going to happen now?
Well, another individual by the name of Richard Turnbull is going to take up the mantle to keep the project going. However, he has stated that he is not taking over Modelmods Ltd. Therefore, any current or past issues with Modeldmodz is not his responsibility. If you already paid to Modelmodz Ltd. before 22.03.2026 and has not received anything, the results are not very encouraging.
When it comes to Hobbies, sometimes things can go awry unexpectedly. It can be due to insufficient funds or too much of it, a sudden price hike in materials, loss of a partner, got banned and so on.
