20230304 Engine PCB Revision 4

OK, the amended Circuit board (version 4) for the Razor Crest has arrived and I was quite happy with them. After soldering the boards, I noticed that there is still some changes.

The new board has the corrected copper tracks for the power and also, incorporated the pair of red LEDs which reduces my wire count from 10 to 6.

SEEING RED

The problem was that the red LEDs were not bright enough. They were calculated to be fed 10mA because at that level, the red LEDs were already too bright. However, because I was using PWM to control them, the red LEDs turned out to be too dim. So, I have two solutions:

1. Increase current to 20mA by replacing the 300 Ohm resistor with a 150Ohm, or
2. Program them to be brighter.

In the end, I chose both, since the 300 Ohm resistor was not a common component in my inventory but the 150 Ohm is.

Engine PCB version 3 (lright) and version 4 (left). They look almost the same except that the fonts are smaller and there are additional solder holes for the 2 red LEDs.
I can’t believe the two boards took me about 4 hours to populate.
