Sorry about this but I want to revisit the lighting of the Razor Crest and also, confirm it before I actually start drilling out the holes in the plastic. After looking at the images on the Internet, both AMT and Revell Razor Crest models do not have the navigation detail. After re-watching the TV series, I discovered more details on the spaceship. But this post concentrates on the position of the red navigation lights at the top.
THE RED NAVIGATION LIGHTS
First of all, I never did notice them as most of the images on the Internet about the (Revell) model showed them unlit. Even if they were lit, the red navigation lights were not addressed. It was not until later images, courtesy of britmodeller.com which pointed them out. Subsequent re-visits to the TV Series proved that the lights were always there. They were small, hardly noticeable in some cases, since the lights were either on of off. I want to blame it on continuity but then again, it is up to Din Djarin however he wants to do with the lights.
If you look at the (AMT) Scale model, the detail for the top navigation lights were not there.
But I decided to go with 2mm diffused LEDs. You can change it to 3mm if you want but it cannot jut out more than 1.5mm or so.
There are some LEDs which has a taller ‘neck’ but I am not going that far.
I must also remember to either paint a very thin ring as collar at the LEDs. Initially, I was thinking of using Evergreen styrene tubing #225 with an OD 0f 4mm and making the ring thinner but it will be too fragile. Or even cutting thin 0.3mm styrene strips out of Tamiya Pla-plates but yes, they would melt or break when you use thin cement glue in them.
