THE LOCATION

Jalan Landak in Pudu (aka Pasar Road, you only mention this and most KLlites would know where you’re referring to) is one of the busiest place. You have cars clogging up in almost every direction and so are the people there. And choosing a corner lot at the Jalan Landak/ Kijang intersection would definitely benefit from the potential foot traffic. That is, as long as the decades old food stall outside it does not block the view of the shop.

Just in front is the Hotel Pudu (formerly Pudu Plaza), and two schools within walking distance. And the area is quite accessible (except this month of April where it is clogged with intensive Raya shopping due to the vicinity of the GM Plaza) but in the end, it is the parking which is the issue. As the shop is newly opened (today), their opening hours has not been defined yet.

This is an image taken from Google Map circa 2018 when the corner lot (left) was still a 7-11 outlet.
I used to frequent the 7-11 here (OK, once) and it was quite a challenge to find it since the food stall (right) blocked the sign.

INSIDE BLANK

The decor inside is quite nice. I love the design of the furniture which mimicks shipping containers. At the moment, Blank have the latest Bandai products (ie Gundam) but tools and paints, especially the new ones from Thailand (not Skull). We did some discussion with my issue of chrome paints and also, he is the second guy to confirm the difficulty of bringing in Modo paints.

I hope he will bring in more tools and model accessories, models from different manufacturers which could make Blank stand out from other ‘Bandai/ Gundam’ shops. But then again, that is just me.

The inside of Blank with ‘Ah Hung’ (Lucius Hongo) manning the counter on the left.
Man, I love his apron. Anyway, we did have a chat was I was looking for some robust chrome paints which can withstand clear coats and the fingertip test.
Alas, we both know that its a very challenging experiment and even elecro plating from Thailand has its advantages.

Some of Eric Yap’s products.
Even without me buying anything (at first), I got free coffee for the nearby Food Truck parked outside.
But in the end, he reccommended the TickBalang (in Malay language its almost ‘tap the jar’), which to me is like a streamlined Base Jabber

FREE COFFEE

The free coupon entitles me to a cup of… something. The guy asked me to choose an either #1, #2, #4, #9 or #10.
So I chose #9
Thanks to Blank, this cup of coffee will be a treat for my Family.
OK, here is a clearer shot.
I took this while standing in front of a new Bak Kut Teh stall. The previous tenant, I think, was a local singer who passed away.
I noticed him a decade ago, selling clothes in Pudu Plaza before he moved to this shop.

PRODUCTIVE SUNDAY?

Well not really. I was woken up at six in the morning because I forgot to turn off the alarm which was set more than two weeks ago. Still, after some sleep in, it was too hot for anything.

This was my original plan for Sunday. But after reading Eric Yap’s post about Blank and it IS located in Pudu, well, why not?
