Thinking about the Box
For this project, I would like to have some carton boxes. Since this is a mini-shop, some extra rations could exist for the soldiers. Heck, even some fruits are possible and while we’re at it, how about some Durians too? But then , this would mean having a table inside an already crowded Container. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. I have not firmly thought out on how to complete this Project apart from just finishing the Conex Box. For now, the Ration Carton Box is a priority as far as this Project is concerned.
Thinking outside the Box
I was exposed to Tamiya as a kid in the 80’s and for a long time, and with each rare purchase, my Hobby skills grew because I was always experimenting aka FAFO (F@ck Around and Find Out). As time goes by, the cost of a Tamiya model kit went up annually. I did remember in one of those waning years of the Hobby, I got their first M151 Mutt which included a sheet of brown paper with fold markings to create a carton box. I did an OK job on it. Maybe its my preparation or how I folded it, those boxes were always bulging and I hated that.
Fast forward (almost) three decades later, here I am again, with the issue of a ration box. Only this time, I do not have that sheet of paper anymore. There are several methods where I can get them, namely:
- Buy pre-printed sheets
This is the best idea as the dimensions and wordings of the box has been done for you. But if for some reason you need to modify the words, you’re out of luck.
- Buy resin versions with decals
No.
- Download the design
I’ve been searching for this for quite awhile but it seemed they either had bad URL links or, out of stock. But finally, I found and downloaded the .PDF file.
This file allows me to re-size and re-design the boxart.
Dimensions of the Carton
The question now is, how big are these Ration boxes and also, the Carton itself?
