20230308 Razor Crest Lighting: Landing Gears and Ramp

In this section of the lighting, the lights for the Landing Gears and Ramps are, to me, just lights. They do not necessarily have to come on. The need to be individually switched on just like the external wall lights as discussed earlier. Still, having them, especially in a diorama, would make it look cool. It reminds me of the lighting used by the Milllennium Falcon on the Planet Hoth and again when they flew and landed inside a space slug hidden in an asteroid in The Empire Strikes Back. This was also the very first time I’ve seen lighting as it did not exist in Episode IV, I think./

So, let’s go back to this image once again, when the farmers were approaching Din Djarin in the forest.
Note that because he was examining the port side (left) landing gear, most of the lights were on. However, there are no lights on the front landing gear. From the glow of the ship’s edges, I can say that there are some lighting on the craft’s starboard (but hidden). I have to use my imagination for the rest of the lighting not seen nor activated for the ship.

LANDING GEARS

The lights are mounted inside the well of the landing gears. I wanted to put some SMD LEDs in there as they kind of fit into the way things were lit. But this would be too fragile if you do not know how to handle and mount them.

In this image, you can see that the lights were at the top of the well.
And on closer look, it is kind of rectangle.
It is also very close to the upper landing gear flap
This shot confirms it.
But in the model kit, you will need to make a rectangular hole right through the plastic holding the landing gear’s upper flap. The issue is, the moment you drill through, it compromises the landing gear assembly and the model has no anchoring points to stand on. I am not sure if I can relay this information as accurate as possible but once I start to do into the landing gear, you might understand. Things might not be so bad with the Revell version though. However, these are, at the moment, just speculation and I cannot confirm until I examine the parts in both models.

THEY ARE JUST LIGHTS?

I have to say, although they look good, there are no lights in the landing bay unless they were switched on. So, in this case, I believe they are just… lights.

When Razor Crest lands on Ran’s Space Station, there are no lights at the landing gears.
When the Razor Crest made an emergency landing on planet Rrask there are no lights too.

THE RAMP

And now, the ramp. Unless I know how to re-cast the parts in clear, there are no other ways to light them up, not even by using UV lights on white dots (as the whole ramp will have blue lights).

Look the the shape of the light near the ramp. They are in an elliptical shape when means it is not shone downwards.
With the shadow of the hydraulic holding the ramp, this means the light was from the cargo bay. You can aslo see the light shining on the hydraulic too.
Because there are only one such light, this means there is only one light source. from starboard.

Here is a much better shot. Note the cargo bay lights are now white and not warm white as seen in the first season.
But I cannot see any light source. Then again, this is season two, and the ship has been repaired more than once.
