A Dream about a PCB Printer

I forgot to tell you all that I had a very exciting dream this morning.

Usually, after a few minutes, my Dreams would fade away but not this one. I can still remember the important details even 15 hours later. I Dreamt that I was somewhere in Pasar Road and I saw this amazing printer which, well, prints Circuit Boards. And it only costs very near to USD2,200 (MYR6920). Plus, each fiberglass looking PCB plate only costs £32 for a size of half an A4. I was so happy that I immediately composed a Pros and Cons list to decide whether I should get it. Yes, I took a lot of samples. Then all of a sudden, I was home and the same printer was working away in my house. I know I did not buy it but it’s there. So, I took more samples. But there was a Forum member whom, I think, saw me took all the samples since I took them in a ‘stealthy’ way.

But after waking up, I started to think since I did not show me the Pros and Cons list. Yeah, after much thinking, there was a lot of Cons:

  1. This must be a CnC machine.
  2. The PCB costs so much because they need to be pre-drilled to fit into the printer’s alignment holes, etc.
  3. At £32 per board, its very expensive and I have not even seen it drill various hole sizes for components let alone slapping on the solder mask or even, silk-screening.

Yeah, thank goodness it was just a dream. But I am sure, there is a message for me here which I have yet to decipher. Or, maybe, I am just worried about the Pegasus boards which is now plagued with either the need for obsolete LEDs to make a cheaper board or more expensive boards to cater for modern LEDs. Sigh.
