It is kinda unbearable working with only a ceiling of effective brightness shining behind your shoulders. Whatever I was working on, would be eclipsed by my body. The efforts of replacing that table magnifier kinda went off the rails because I could not locate the power supply for the LED frame. I know it is somewhere in the Works Room, carefully placed in a box, among a mountain of boxes. Plus, I keep forgetting to place an order for a much better power supply.

As usual, this issue kept nagging at me until dinner last night. The usual restaurant has moved to the back of the Block and in its place was… Mr. DIY! And so, after some very much wandering around the shelves, I have indeed found my solution. The old curtain rod mounts, which was the stumbling block, suddenly became the anchor point for my new lighting solution. The only component would be a rope or wire strong enough to support the LED Frame. Since I still have not found the power supply, I opted for the backup which is the 10-year old Ikea Melodi lamp shade I bought back with me from Kuching. It was designed by Monika Mulder, whom I am not familiar with.

Are you bored yet? No?
Anyway, because I am using that Melodi Lamp, its fancy plastic on the electrical connectors have become brittle and so, I had to search for some replacement connector terminals. And what do you know, inside my Box of Tools (not Tool Box), I have kept a leftover length of curtain wire from our previous place, which, is just a few centimetres longer. Using the hook screws to secure itself to the old curtain mounts and voila! It’s done!

I bought a Cool White 24W Philips Tornado (125W equivalent) and well, all is good.
There is no option to dim the lights but for the time being, I am OK with that. I just hope it won’t drop off too soon.
