Harold Ramis, RIP

Waking up this morning to discover the great man is gone did not really start my day. As I took it all in, only two thoughts came to my mind:

  1. There won’t be any Ghostbiusters, and
  2. Why did the Studio execs for dragged their feet on this?

People wait and wait and wait. And when their chance comes up, they would be too old or too busy, etc and then the project gets shelved, etc. In the mean time, the Execs would be doing whatever the crap they’re doing, searching for the next best thing without realising they had all these great people on tap and then panicking when THEY ran out of ideas. And it just takes one moron to do a reboot and everyone would think it was the best idea and followed like lemmings. Don’t believe me? Look at the amount of CGI SFX instead of practical models. Look at Special Editions, Director’s Cut, etc.

Everyone wants to follow the tried and tested Hollywood formula and pray theirs would be the next Blockbuster but in the end, there is not much difference between each movie, just bigger explosions or over the top CGI effects.

Excuse me while I do my pissed off rambling.
