20220623 THE FRONT ARRAY PCB

In just two weeks, the first of the three PCBs designed by Arky has arrived. I can never get bored when it comes to opening the vacuum sealed plastic. It is like opening and touching new PCBs for the very first time. I know it’s no big deal but man, my fingers were trembling.

The boards are tiny, measuring close to 65mm by 30mm. Maybe its is just a few pieces but I was caught off guard with the size of the smaller box. All the time, I assumed that the bottom box was the ‘standard’ minimum.

You can choose the colour of your PCB and JLCPCB will happily make them.
You can choose from Green, Purple, Red, Yellow, Blue, White or Black.
For those who are familiar with the circuit, you can immediately see that it uses two pairs of 555/4017 ICs.
This is because the Mk IX or X uses two scanning LEDs arrays with different timing.
I love Nicholas’s design on the board and they had no problem with thin traces. Even those tiny round vias (that connects the upper surface with the lower surface) looked so cute.
You can also specify your Board’s thickness (from 0.4mm to 2.0mm) with JLCPCB.
For this Project, I chose 0.8

So, the next thing would be to wait for the SMD components to arrive. Just a few minutes ago, I have placed the order for the .STL files to be printed too. The problem with where I live, delivery takes anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months at the least. So, I have to put all these stuff into boxes and try to remember or make notes on my progress. Very often that when the stuff comes, I have actually forgotten my last steps or why I ordered them in the first place.
