20220925 New 3D Material from JLCPCB

Once again, please do be aware of JLCPCB’s PSA on the 4-day break starting at the end of September.

Anyway, while I was at their website, JLCPCB seems to have added more 3D printing and material options. I have uploaded a new file just to test if they can be printed. I am worried because one the backing is only 0.5mm thick which JLCPCB’s minimum is 0.8mm. So, I hope it can still pass inspection and straight to production.

I just want to test a part which I created with FreeCAD and it did take me a long time since I did not have the time to RTFM or WTFV on Youtube.

SLA: LEDO 6060 Resin

During my first attempt with 3D printing, I used their SLA Resin LEDO 6060 which was heatproof until 56ºC

FDM: ABS Black

Now, the new option is FDM (ABS) is heatproof until 98ºC and has excellent impact strength.
Plus, it comes in Black. If this works out, I do not have to worry about light blocking with a black primer.

SLS: 3201PA-F Nylon

Another new material is the SLS (Nylon) which also comes in Black. It is heatproof until 147ºC and has excellent mechanical properties.

20220926 Update

And so, the file did not pass. I would have guessed that the big sheet’s thickness of 0.5mm was the cause. Because of how the part is printed, there is a very high possibility it will fail and/or break during the process. But what I was not expecting was that they detected two parts instead of one.

“Dear Sir, sorry to tell you that there are 2 issues with your files, please kindly revise your files and submit new orders. Thanks ! 1. The overall wall thickness of your part is too thin, which could be easily damaged both in printing and post process, please kindly increase the overall wall thickness at least 1.5mm to proceed. Thanks ! 2. Separate shells (parts) are detected in your files, sorry to tell you that each file could only support 1 shell (1 part ) for printing. Please combine and unify all the separated shells in one part to proceed. Thanks ! The same issues with your orders D2022092603500004 /D2022092534500037/D2022092537500139”
From their response, this report showed the two issues. The red would be the 0.5mm thickness. And the yellow/green would be the separate parts, I guess.
