I guess this is big news for a lot of people, and maybe myself included. Maybe. I vaguely remember the first time I’ve watched the Movie, but I do remember the first time I held a Luke Skywalker and Obi-wan Kenobi action figures. What came later was a little traumatic. Because those figures were not mine and I was asked to pay for the privilege of holding them for one day. And so, despite how everyone loved Star Wars and declared their obsessive devotion, I could never share the same sentiment. At that very young age, I also realised that I could not appreciate a Movie or any works of Art as a whole but in just small details i.e. the exciting bits. For example, in Star Wars, I only liked the reflective white Stormtrooper costume and the X-Wing fighter. But ask me about the character quotes, how the story went, some background info or even, their Lore, I could not really answer you. Not because of my disinterest but it’s just that at the back of my mind, it is not really that important.

What was important was how everything looked. From the Costumes to the buildings to the weapons and spaceships. That was the reason I veered to the Special Editions because it made the Movie bearable. It was also the time I started to get fascinated with the Millennium Falcon especially its bluish white engines. And also, why Finemolds’s version of the engine was so beautiful although it was not canon. Slowly, more and more details start to get me attention such as variance of Han Solo’s Blaster in each Movie. Its like a non-alcoholic trying to love some priceless 18th Century Wine by drinking it. Once in a blue moon, you’d tasted some new flavor among the fermented dead fruits.

By the early of 1997, the whole Trilogy thing was given the “Special Edition” treatment where literally each Movie was changed to bring them closer to George Lucas’s original vision, whatever that meant. For me, it was more of a test in CGI enhancement technology, create some semblance of continuity with the Prequels and well, satisfy his forever fickle-mindedness, I suppose. Imagine a Storyteller telling you a story which mesmerizes you and then added more glitter to it so you’d be more excited the second time round. Or the third. Or the fourth and so on. The CG… er, glitter did enhance a lot of things but if it is a boring movie, then it really is still a boring movie.

So, why am I ranting on and on about nothing? I am not sure but while writing this article, I realized I have completely forgotten about the Screencaps on the Internet Okthxbye.

What the… This is image #110 from the Star Wars Screencaps. This Devastator sucker shows up once and only in this scene. It is not even lighted up. Whatever happened to all those 250,000 fiber optics?

The Harmy’s Star Wars Trilogy Despecialized Edition

And there is the Despecialized Edition. This is a Group Project using an Honor system whose aim is to re-create the Theatrical Version of the Movies since ol’ Georgie was not giving any two hoots about that until the Mouse stepped in.

Anyway, I just realised the significance of Docking Bay 94 aka Hangar 94… yeah.
