20250901 Gundam EWACS

When my own copy of the Gundam Sentinel book arrived in the 90’s, I was overwhelmed with the mecha designs. Apart from the Ex-S system, I was mesmerised with the EWACs unit they put into Mobile Suits like the Nero. I did not realise the model (or was it a figure?) came out about a decade ago. And so, I decided to let it rest since it would be almost impossible and quite expensive to look for it.

Jesta EWACs

Suddenly, when I was browsing some Chinese B2C platforms, a 3D printed EWACs system was available as an add-on accessory for a 1/144 Jesta. As far as I know, there was no other ‘Official’ Gundam EWACs apart from the Nero Mobile suit. The appearance for the Jesta was a little surprising to me as I am always out of touch with the Gundam World. Still, it looked kinda nice and as a 3D print, it is a little costly though. But wait a minute…

This is the image taken from that Chinese B2C Platform. The greyish blue parts are the items offered and you’d need to supply your own 1/144 scale Jesta. I was hoping to at least see the Jesta’s head.
This is the rear view and details looks crisp and beautiful.
The actual item for Sale.
It is 3D printed and the details are very good. But it brings me to question, who did the 3D file? When I looked at the top left detail again, they actually reminded me of something familiar.
This is how the EWAC system are assembled and look again at the two U-shaped black parts on the top left…
The EWACs system fits quite nicely on top of the Jesta, thanks to the stand inserted at the back. Now, looking back at the top left again, I recognise the EWAC system!
It is similar to the Gundam Sentinel’s Nero!
Officially, there is no EWACs for a Jesta but this does not stop Area 0083 from doing one.

So, having an EWACs system is a great idea but in my mind, the Jesta is more suitable for assault and stuff. Still, this concept does not stop me from envisaging another Gundam, say, an RX-93 fitted with one too. But that is another story since I am interested in using its head for something else and RG was too expensive for me to multilate it. Ha ha ha.
