20260621 The MALCOM Haul #02

The next haul surprises even myself. I am not a figures guy and I have never had any success with them, even when I was a kid. Although I have seen a few demonstrations from Calvin Tan, I want to enter into this genre. It is not easy because I would need to invest in better brushes and a whole new line of acrylic paints.

I have met Mr. Bao Nguyen in MALCOM a few years ago. His 3D printed products, which concentrates on the Vietnam War was amazing. The only problem I did not approach him sooner was that I do not know what to do with that subject. More than that, I have issues with using cyanoacrylates on resin which bonds and not cements.

All that changed when he showcased his latest subject which were the Military Nurses of that era. The announcement on Facebook obviously created a fuss and split the Group. But I find myself supporting the models because it reminded me of when my Mom was a Registered Nurse in Malaysia. She faced a very dangerous period (Racial Riot) as a Nurse while carrying me.

I was quite interested in the huge 1/35th scale ATC (H) Tango model (troop landing craft converted into a multi-role river boat) but ran out of cash. Nevertheless, it give me an idea…
These stethoscopes are really thin and I am not sure how strong 3D printed resins are. Still, I’ll know when I come to it.
There are some issues which needs to be fixed with putty though.
Yeah, the resin is quite flexible for the time being but over time, I am not sure. Maybe I should remove the stethoscopes first…
