20261105 Spinner: Main Board Rev 12 Update

I have finalised the design of the latest Main Board with JLCPCB and I would be getting them around next week. There are a number of changes throughout each revision and they are as follows, (or most of the things I can remember, that is):

  1. Changed from spring terminals to screw terminals,
  2. Changed all ICs to SMD packages,
  3. Added in PWM LED dimmer IC for Cabin Interior,
  4. Added in PWM LED dimmer IC for front Mandlbles,
  5. Designed new PCB for front Mandibles,
  6. Designed new PCB for Roof Middle revolving light,
  7. Re-aligned the 5 rear thrusters to better fit the model,
  8. Used EaglePCB’s auto-routing feature

This was last week’s work where I re-wired the whole board so that the wiring from each connector is grouped better. I could improve it more so that the wiring would separate further to left and right of the model but then I wonder, as I sipped my cup of non-alcoholic Hydrogen Monoxide, I asked myself, when would this end?
Version 1 (left) and version 12 (right). There is a lot of difference in the design.

In Summary

So, what was just a simple 50-plus LED circuit turned out to be more than it seemed. Of course the main challenge at that time was to get the LED effect I was looking for. But in order to provide easier installation process, things just got complicated. Now, there are other things which needs to be done, more importantly with the first thing on the list below:

  1. Connect all the LEDs for a test run and see how much power all the PCB boards are using
  2. Look into the option of controlling a Servo,
  3. Look into the option of cramming in either a Vape or a water mist system (or maybe not)
  4. Look into the option of programming the Top LEDs to give that sweeping effect (might not be possible)

Seriously, I think I am getting a little tired of all these and might want to just stop for a while.
