While waiting for my PCB to arrive, I decided to just play with some COB LEDs. These chip-on-board LEDs are quite bright. But, they are usually configured to work at 12volts. It was quite a challenge to find one rated at 5volts or less and have a diameter of 40mm.
But this is still exciting because I can see how effective the lighting is. I can also go for a smaller diameter COB but I would need to move the LED back and also, scuff up the clear part to diffuse the light.
I had to edit this image a little to put in more yellow as the Huawei shot came out whitish
Anyway, with the low current, you can see the actual LEDs in there. If I had a driver which can generate 1700mA, the whole engine would be too bright.
On a second thought, the middle area looks kinda good, almost like the effect from the show.
