20240917 Hollowed 3D Voyager CommBadge

This is presumably how the finished print would look like.

I think I am going to try getting this Voyager ComBadge printed soon. The 3D file belongs to Aaron Rhodes from Instructables and he mentions that by scaling down to 0.944, the size is almost correct. I have been trawling through the Internet and this is one of the Commbadge designs which caught my eye.

It’s all empty inside

Initially I wanted someone to maybe scan an IPI Commbadge and then using software to clean it up and hollowed it out. Hopefully, with this file, I can skip a few steps and go straight to designing the innards. The only software work would then be to create the facility to hold magnets and perhaps, maybe thicken the badge a little more.

Measuring the IPI Commbadge, I have less than 5.5mm to work with. I am thinking of a height less than 3.5mm. So, this is a nightmare since the battery itself would not be able to fit such a confined space.
