20251130 Vintage Diaclone

Back in the 80’s, when I walked to the Tuition centre, I would always stop by one of the shops nearby called, Min-Max. In Bangsar, it was one of the cool bookshops that sells stuff. At one time, they even introduced the Apple Lisa.

But what got me going back again and again were their choice of Japanese Model kits. Boxes of Crusher Joes, weird Robots and stuff were there. And one of the few caught my eye. It was about a small guy (robot?) inside an armored suit. I did not know it was called Diaclone nor do I care. All I know is that if I saved a little, I could get it.

Years later, I realised these small plastic guys also came in metal and their armoured suits were much better, in the form of transformable cars. Although the price was bordering on obscenity, it was my mission which is clearly more obscene; it want the damn thing for the small guy and his magnetic boots…

Decades later now, after having gone and gotten a Degree, parents/sibling clearing my stuff and moving places and back again, I don’t think I will ever get to see this anymore. BTW, mine was beige in colour and one even had that para-gliding vac-form thing over its back.

If I knew this could turn into a priceless vintage, I would have bought them all, with all the money from the Future. Then again, for a kid like me, all I know is that box holds my Happiness for the week.
