With JoyToy concentrating mostly on the Warhammer genre, Hiya Toys went for other IPs such as 2000AD, GI Joe, Resident Evil to name a few. Their Robocop Series seems promising and coming in at 1/12th Scale, these prototype images 6.5 inch figures looks quite nice. The only problem I had with, was the Auto-9. Granted the figure comes with two of them, however, the larger of the two looked noticeably smaller and in some of the images, it reminded me of the Desert Eagle instead.
The proportions of the first Robocop looks OK to me. Once you see the thick slit on his right thigh, you will know that the holster can be opened.
Alas, the holster has only enough space for a smaller Auto-9. This could probably because at this scale, space is sacrificed for the knee joints. To overcome this, Hiya could use metal which is stronger but would cost more.
The accessories that comes with the figure. The helmet ratchet removing tool is only available in Robocop II. The accessory parts are quite generous too. I as surprised Hiya gave two mouth expressions.
The damaged look for Robocop is quite OK for me, although I just hate to see him in damaged versions. Still, after looking at the movie still, the damage parts are quite spot on.
The sequel’s armour design is the same but with a new paint job as if its a brand new car. It does take some getting used to but if the bluish purple tint is reduced, it would look so much better. Then again, that is my version of Robocop. This time, the prototype images of the elbow joints looked weird.
This is the Robocop 2 version. Sometimes, I prefer this paint job but in a more muted way. And yes, he is able to pose just like what you see on the Movie Poster.
OK, in this image, the right arm seems to be quite far away from the main torso.
Apart from Cain’s Brain, new amour damage and the ratchet, I think there is no difference to the accessories
I do have a (broken) MarFarlane and if memory serves me right, the paint job was remarkable. Only that the joints for this 7″ figure is quite fragile. Mine dropped from a table and its shoulders are practically gone.
