Over the past two weeks, my Facebook feed was full of news about the Haslab Proton Pack. Namely
1. Getting their Packs,
2. Not getting their Packs,
3. Regrets of not backing the Pack,
4. Calling sellers as Scalpers,
5. Unboxing,
6. Why did Hasbro lie? The video’s Prototype has this, that, and other stuff…
7. Memeing the Spirit Pack owners?
Then the week after that:
1. Intermittent connections on the hose
2. What type of batteries it needs, (Ans: D-Cells)
3, Stuffing rolled up aluminum balls into the contacts
4. Sourcing for more accurate parts
5. ALICE LC-1 Frames suddenly got rare, Rothco ones are going off the shelves
6. Picking fights with replica owners?
And in the middle of February:
1. Power Banks and/or Talentcell modifications,
2. Sound Modifications
3. What not to do
4. Broken Parts, Circuit boards, asking for replacements and so on…
ARMCHAIR MODDING
After going through all these posts, it made me wonder. The Haslab pack was a Godsend for those (OK, 21+ thousand people) who longed for a Proton Pack since the 80’s. These Official plastic Packs means we do not have to shell out thousands for a heavy resin replica. And then they were released to the General Public possessing various levels of intelligence.
I AM NOT SURE HOW TO PUT THIS
This is the first time (for me it was the Spirit Pack) ever that a full scale Proton Pack was made easily available (unless you did not back it in 2021) for under USD400. Add in the USD99 Spengler Wand and you’re ready to go. So, why do I want one since I already have a Spirit Pack?
The answer was very simple: Why not?
Anyway, I do know you can modify it but for me, I’ll just do the basics since I really love the effects of the AfterLife version:
1. Amplify the Pack’s Sound
2. Replace the Power Cell window
3. Revamp the Pack’s power with 5VDC and 12VDC
There might be a smoke machine but it depends on how the Wand does the Overheat effect. Then again, this is not important since it was never shown in the movies. Yet.
