I have seen a lot of Enterprise-D models and personally, I do not agree with the painting scheme. The whole model has a smooth surface and its Aztek patterns are quite muted. This became an issue for me because I hated sanding the AMT/ERTL model, leading me to giving up completely.

There are still some images of the six-Foot Studio Model out there, especially on some Auction Sites. Here is one great example from My Enterprise D. Which is why I did not agree with the Partswork version in terms of accuracy. For now, except for 3D Printing, the Clear Version of the Enterprise NCC-1701-D from AMT in 1/1400 scale is the best bet. It’s about 18 inches long but sadly, they will not throw in a surface grinder. And if you want to know who it was built, here is a brief explanation by Kim Smith of Industrial Light and Magic.
