20230409 The Haul

These are the items I got from GG Hobby the night before. The most important item were the Mr. Color #SM08 Super Metallic Plate Silver Next, which was the main reason I drove there immediately after work. Bear in mind, a bottle of these costs more than twice the average Mr. Color paint. After Mr. Kam informed me the price, I had enough to get all remaining three bottles. The rest would be some disposable paint droppers which I require for the upcoming paint testing. And some plastic parts greeblies which he was only too glad to let me have it.

So, I got all the remaining Mr. Color #SM08 Super Metallic Plate Silver Next. Then He gave me more plastic droppers than I requested. I also took it off him a pack of what looked like some Gundam bazooka (hooray! More scratch-building parts!)
For this Bazzoka, it is big. The pieces were not cemented which again, is awesome.
I am guessing a 1/60 PG scale.
The only clue I have is this guy. I remember seeing him, with blonde hair or something.
Mr. Google tells me the figure is Gai Murakamo and weapon (M68 “Cattus” 500mm Recoilless Rifle) is from a 1/60 Gundam Astray Blue.
Mr. Color #SM08 Super Metallic Plate Silver Next. Although it is still on their Website, many shops I’ve been to, said the paint has never been replenished for years.
Some did even say it is out of production.
This paint looks similar to Hobbymate’s Chrome but I won’t know until I’ve tested it. When he first took it out, there were about tow layers as the particles had a very long time to settle down.
On the left is how it looked after some shaking while the right was left overnight.
I have to take note that on Mr. Hobby’s website, the paint cannot be sealed, even with a water-based clear.

THE M68 “CATTUS” 500mm RECOILLESS RIFLE

The original Bandai Blue Astray Frame carries ONE of these. And at 1/60th scale, the weapon is massively long. However, I am looking at it as a scratch-building potential. The parts are great and does fit into any 1/35 to 1/20 scale concepts. Except for the long barrel because if I had a pair of them, it would be another story.

Yeah, if I wanted to, this would make a very nice variation of the 10th Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver
I loved the front grill design which for a Warp Nacelle, it would look nice as some sort of cooling assembly at the rear.
But if this was placed in the front, then it could be a pre-TNG Bussard Ramscoop.
But if you turn to the back, the three slots would make it look so nice as the rear of a TOS Warp Nacelle.
